About IHS Publishing

Advancing Knowledge,
Inspiring Change

IHS Publishing is an independent academic publisher dedicated to disseminating high-quality, peer-reviewed research to scholars, policymakers, and practitioners worldwide. We operate exclusively under the open-access model — ensuring that the knowledge we publish is available to everyone, everywhere, without barriers.

Our editorial philosophy is grounded in three convictions: that rigorous scholarship should be freely accessible; that interdisciplinary inquiry produces the most consequential insights; and that academic publishing must serve the global research community equitably, regardless of institutional affiliation or geography.

IHS Publishing follows international best practices in academic publishing, including COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines, ICMJE authorship standards, and FAIR data principles. Our journals are UGC compatible, meeting the quality criteria required for academic recognition across institutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to Common Questions

Have a question about submitting, peer review, open access, or publication policies? We have compiled answers to the questions our authors and readers ask most frequently.

Q

What types of manuscripts does IHS Publishing accept?

We accept original research articles, systematic review papers, meta-analyses, policy analyses, legal commentaries, case studies, and conceptual or theoretical papers, provided they fall within the scope of the relevant journal and meet our scholarly standards.

Q

Are IHS Publishing journals UGC compatible?

Yes. IHS Publishing journals meet the eligibility criteria for UGC-compatible journal listings, providing academic recognition support for authors in India and internationally. UGC compatibility ensures that publications count towards academic appraisals and career advancement.

Q

What peer review model do IHS journals use?

All IHS Publishing journals employ a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Both author and reviewer identities remain confidential throughout the evaluation, ensuring that acceptance decisions are based entirely on scholarly merit rather than institutional reputation or seniority.

Q

How long does the review process take?

IHS Publishing targets an initial editorial decision within 4–6 weeks of submission. The complete peer review cycle, including any revisions, typically takes between 10 and 14 weeks. We make every effort to minimise delays and keep authors informed throughout the process.

Q

Will my accepted article receive a DOI?

Yes. Every accepted and published article is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through CrossRef. This ensures that your work is permanently and citably accessible online, regardless of future changes to URLs or hosting platforms.

Q

Can I use AI tools to assist in writing my manuscript?

Yes, with full disclosure. Authors who use AI-assisted writing tools must declare this in their manuscript, specifying the tool used and the nature of its contribution. AI systems cannot be listed as authors. All authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the submitted work.

Q

Under what license are articles published?

All IHS Publishing articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This allows anyone to share, adapt, and build upon the work for any purpose, including commercial use, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors.

Q

Can I suggest or exclude reviewers?

Yes. Authors may suggest up to three potential reviewers with relevant expertise and may request the exclusion of specific individuals, provided valid reasons are stated. The editorial team reserves the right to use or disregard such preferences at its discretion to maintain impartiality.

Q

What happens if plagiarism is detected in my submission?

All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software prior to peer review. A similarity index exceeding 15% (excluding references) triggers an editorial investigation. Confirmed plagiarism results in immediate rejection. In serious cases, the author's institution may also be notified of the breach.
